Ricciardo hit with three-place grid penalty for Spain after Kvyat crash

Daniel Ricciardo's miserable 2019 is set to continue after the Renault driver was handed a three-place grid penalty for contact with Daniil Kvyat during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The Australian looked to have set up another optimistic dive down the inside of another car but missed his braking point and locked up and went straight on, blocking Kvyat from turning in.
In an attempt to quickly make up for his mistake, Ricciardo reversed into the stationary Toro Rosso that was blocking the track, causing damage to both cars that ended both drivers days.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1 after the race, Ricciardo admitted he had panicked at that moment which led to a lapse in judgement.
"I don't feel good about what happened. It's weird," he said.

"I saw a gap so thought I would have a go. Initially, I had the commitment and thought I would pull it off. But then I felt I would start to lock and missed the corner.
"As soon as I went down the escape road it was a sense of urgency and a bit of panic, I guess, and just trying to minimise damage and lose as little time as possible.
"I found reverse and started going and had no idea he was there. I guess the urgency stopped me from looking."
"When I went long, I assumed he would have cut back and stayed on track. Trying to minimise the mistake I made turned into another mistake."
