Laurent Mekies reaffirmed that the team is taking it race-by-race in the battle for the drivers' world title, and underlined a key area in which his team needs to perform.
"The race is a consequence. So nobody is thinking about a championship."

Max Verstappen finished the Sao Paulo Grand Prix in third place, only behind Lando Norris and Kimi Antonelli. The Dutchman had to start in the pit lane after the team modified his setup and equipped his car with a new power unit.
Despite a stunning drive, the gap to championship leader Norris grew to 49 points.
After the race, team principal Mekies spoke about the gap: "You are getting tired of me telling you that we take it race by race. I'm not going to repeat it."

He then explained what their main focus is: "The simple truth is, the focus is how can we maximize our chance to get the car in the alive window for Las Vegas.
"The race is a consequence. So nobody is thinking about a championship.
"We are just thinking about what do we do with the Las Vegas constraints. We know it's very different, very, very low on force, extremely cold windows for the tyres, how do we get the car to perform there and then the rest is a consequence."
Were Red Bull's difficulties connected to the Interlagos layout? Mekies added: "I would not blame the track really, I think it's always very difficult and sometimes you manage it better than all the time. I think that's a simple truth.
"But it's easy to forget how difficult it is to do it even when you win. So it's simply very difficult every race."
