Red Bull now also gets the rights to Formula 1 with its own channel

Red Bull's ServusTV platform has been awarded the Formula 1 rights for Austria. Together with ORF, the energy giant's platform will broadcast all races on the open channels in Austria.

In July it became clear that ServusTV and ORF would share the F1 rights in Austria in the coming year, but this contract with Formula 1 will last at least until 2023. ORF and ServusTV will share the rights, which means that the races will be divided between the two parties. Only the Austrian GP will broadcast on them both, reports Speedweek.com.

A nice step for Austrians, who had to switch between RTL, Sky and ORF last seasons. With two platforms, the choices are in any case more limited and Formula 1 remains on the open channel.

ServusTV is based in Salzburg and started as Salzburg TV in 1995. In 2004, however, the platform had to be sold to prevent bankruptcy and then Red Bull came around the corner. They bought all the shares in the company and have had their own channel ever since.
