Pirelli's head of racing
Mario Isola thinks that we're in for an exciting race at the Bahrain International Circuit, as the teams have different
"interesting" strategies.
Qualifying featured several upsets, as Max Verstappen crashed his Red Bull during Q1 and Williams again showed that they're a work in progress, to say the least. Lewis Hamilton will start from ninth.
“After an action-packed qualifying, there will be a few drivers starting out of their usual positions tomorrow, which should make for an entertaining race,” Isola said ahead of Sunday's action.
“We’ve already seen some interesting strategies in view of the race tomorrow.
"Lewis Hamilton beat last year’s supersoft pole time already in Q2 using the soft tyre, with which he will start the race, against the rest of the top ten on supersoft.”
The last thing Isola wanted to say - from a compound perspective - is how many stops each team will probably have. Isola suspects it might become a two-stop race.
“We can expect two pit stops for most of the cars tomorrow, but there are a number of different potential combinations that could work, depending on the speed of each car and the individual race circumstances.”
