Pierre Gasly is looking forward to his first race in Red Bull colours when he takes to the track this weekend in Australia. After only one season in Formula 1 so far with Toro Rosso last year, few would have predicted Gasly to be in the Red Bull seat. However, due to Daniel Ricciardo's exit from the team, space opened up for the Frenchman and he is going to take the opportunity with both hands.
“The race in Melbourne will be my first with the Team, so of course I’m really excited to get this new season started,” Gasly said to FormulaSpy.com.
“It’s only my second full season in Formula One and there are a lot of things to learn this year, which makes it even more challenging. I’ve prepared myself well all winter for this first race and first season with the team. It’s going to be a special weekend for me wearing Red Bull Racing colours.”
“I don’t know if it’s because it’s the first race of the year, but there’s something special about Melbourne and the people are really relaxed and joyful. Everybody at the track is super positive and excited about the start of the new season and the paddock has a good vibe.”
Gasly will look forward to proving his worth during the 2019 season and will be looking to push his teammate Max Verstappen as much as possible.
