Pierre Gasly suffered an issue with his car's transmission which forced him to finish today's testing session early. In the afternoon the Frenchman caused the session to be red flagged but managed to clock over 100 laps before he was forced to retire. His car came to a halt at the end of the pit lane and was then returned to the garage where he failed to emerge again.
“It was a busy day in the car and we managed to get through quite lots of test items,” Gasly told the official Red Bull website.
“Today was all about trying to establish a direction for the races to come and also to extract a bit more performance from our package.
“We had what looks like a transmission issue right near the end of the session, which is being looked at now, but we still managed to get a lot of laps done.”
Red Bull will hope to have learnt from today's session and will hope to head to Monaco with the performance and confidence to fight for a race win.
