Valtteri Bottas has finished today's testing session in Barcelona at the top of the timesheet. Having put on an impressive display during qualifying over the weekend the Finn showed that he is still on the pace by finishing the day 1.4 seconds clear of the field. Charles Leclerc came in behind the Mercedes driver to finish the day in second place.
Bottas' best lap time was a 1m15.511s on the C5 tyre meaning he finished just over one-tenth of a second slower than his pole time set in qualifying on Saturday. The Finn clocked more than 100 laps throughout the day and will have learnt a lot about the car.
Leclerc finished second in the Ferrari, with his teammate, Sebastian Vettel, ending the day down in eighth after completing tyre development work for Pirelli.
Surprisingly to some, it was Daniil Kvyat who finished third-fastest for Toro Rosso ahead of Renault's Nico Hulkenberg and Red Bull's Pierre Gasly who took fifth. Gasly struggled throughout the day and it was cut short due to a transmission issue on his car.
Testing is set to continue tomorrow.
