Oscar Piastri has emerged the winner of the Chinese Grand Prix with a very solid race, ahead of his teammate Lando Norris, giving McLaren their first 1-2 of the season. A start to his title bid? Piastri hopes. However, this win is what he feels he deserved last week out in Australia.
So, Piastri is throwing his name in the ring as a title contender with his flawless win in the Shanghai International Circuit. "I hope so. It's been an incredible weekend from start to finish. The car has been pretty mega the whole time," said the Australian in the post-race interviews.

'This is what I deserved in Melbourne'

"I think today was a bit of a surprise with how different the tyres behaved. But no, super proud of the whole weekend. This is what I feel like I deserved from last week," added Piastri before congratulating his team on the 1-2.
Speaking about the challenges the race threw his way he said: "Yes, I think on the medium it was still a bit tricky, but much, much better than yesterday. And the hard was a much better tyre than everyone expected, I think, or certainly than we expected. So, to go all the way to the end like that was a bit of a surprise, but a happy surprise.

"Very proud of the race, we managed to pull off. It wasn't an easy one going in, just proud of the whole team and the weekend I've been able to pull off," added Piastri recognising his own efforts.
After reaffirming his Chinese heritage, Piastri quipped: "The crowd's been exceptional this week. There's a few too many Lewis Hamilton fans, but that's okay. We'll convert some of you next year. So thanks for coming out. The support's been incredible this year, so I really enjoyed it," the Chinese Grand Prix winner concluded.
