Oscar Piastri made a small mistake during the first free practice session at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. As a result, the Australian driver received a fine from the stewards. On Friday, on-track action at the
Canadian Grand Prix began with FP1, where championship leader Piastri was speeding in the pit lane. He went above the allowed 80 kph limit by 0.3, and a result, he was penalised by the stewards.
The fine will not bankrupt the
McLaren driver. His penalty is €100, the stewards' verdict shows. See the complete decision below!
McLaren drivers struggle in FP1
For McLaren, the first session was not as smooth as it has been in recent weeks. Lando Norris set the seventh fastest time, while Piastri finished in P14.
The Briton especially struggled with not having enough grip, as he made mistakes twice in the hairpin, and cut both Turn 2 and Turn 7 once during the first 60 minutes completed in Montreal today.
