After earning the DMSB Permit Nordschleife two weeks ago, here’s the car Max Verstappen will be driving this weekend at the Nürburgring. After racing with the Lionspeed team two weeks ago in a Porsche Cayman GT4, the four-time world champion is ready to get serious this weekend, as he will have a Ferrari 296 GT3 with no power or weight restrictions, allowing him to compete on equal terms with his rivals.
The 296 GT3 is powered by a 2.992 cc V6 twin-turbo engine delivering roughly 600 hp and 710 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed sequential Xtrac gearbox and driving the rear wheels.

Its structure is built around a carbon fiber monocoque, with double wishbone suspension at both front and rear, complemented by 5-way adjustable dampers for optimal handling.
The car weighs around 1,250 kg dry, with a wheelbase of 2,660 mm and a width of 2,050 mm. Fully homologated for GT3 competition, it is eligible to race in series such as GT World Challenge Europe, IMSA, and ACO endurance events.

Verstappen already fastest in qualifying
Max Verstappen is already out on track for his GT3 qualifying debut at the legendary “Green Hell,” and he’s setting the pace with a commanding lead.
Later today, the four-time world champion will take part in his first GT3 race of the weekend at 12:30 p.m. CET. During the race, Verstappen will share the Ferrari 296 with Chris Lulham, who, like Verstappen, secured his A permit at the Nordschleife just two weeks ago, allowing him to compete in this weekend’s GT3 event.
