Sergio Perez was allowed to rejoin his
Racing Point for the
Spanish Grand Prix after two missed races at
Silverstone. The Mexican tested positive for the coronavirus and it appears he may have been infected by a hired private chef.
Perez denies everything
Rumors have been circulating that Perez contracted the virus in Mexico when he went to visit his mother. In the
FIA press conference he denied all rumors, but he did not say where he had contracted it.
Done carefully
According to his team boss
Otmar Szafnauer, Perez did not contract the virus in Mexico, but in Europe.
“We think he contracted the virus from a private chef. Once back in Europe, he hired a private chef because all restaurants were closed, ”Szafnauer told Sky Sports F1.
“He was extremely careful. He stayed with his parents and did not eat out. So we think he got infected by his private chef. It could have happened to anyone ”, Szafnauer concludes.
