Perez on possible contract extension: 'Focused on the season'

Sergio Perez is in his second season at Red Bull Racing. While last race year was mainly about getting used to his new team, he hopes to really perform in 2022. In conversation with Marca Perez spoke about his future at the Austrian racing team.

Indeed, Perez's contract expires at the end of the season, giving Red Bull the opportunity to put another driver in his position. Several driver will be eyeing up an opportunity, including Pierre Gasly. The Frenchman is once again doing well at AlphaTauri and seems ready for his second chance with the Austrians.

Perez, however, is determined to continue competing at a top team and is trying hard this season to convince Red Bull of his qualities. The driver is experienced enough to know that in the early stages of the season it is especially important to stay focused on his performance, he revealed in conversation with the Spanish medium.

"I've been in Formula 1 for twelve years. I'm so focused on the season that I haven't even thought about it," stated Perez, who hopes to do a lot better this season than in 2021. "I'm focused on getting the best results."
