Perez after poor qualifying: "We seemed to go backwards"

Sergio Perez once again failed to deliver for Red Bull Racing during qualifying in Monaco. Where Max Verstappen qualified on the front-row, the Mexican driver had to settle for P9.
"We seemed to go backwards," Perez said in a conversation with Sky Sports. "We didn’t make the progress we hoped or expected to. I was struggling a lot with the dropping temperatures so we changed our approach going into the final session and it just made it worse, and then on my final Q3 run I got traffic."

Positives though

Lewis Hamilton will start from P7, and if Perez starts well he may be able to hold off the Brit in his race to the front of the grid. In doing so, he could prove extremely useful to teammate Max Verstappen.
