Renault star Daniel Ricciardo was content as he put his RS19 on P8 on the grid ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, as the Aussie thinks his starting position leaves him "plenty to play for".
The 30-year-old sealed the qualifying duel between himself and teammate Nico Hülkenberg in Singapore, as the seven-time Grand Prix winner has now beaten Hülkenberg 11 times on Saturday, with the German being higher-placed four times.
Ricciardo was beaten by Carlos Sainz in P7, however, leaving room for improvement as he looks ahead to Sunday's race under the floodlights at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
“Our intention was to get into Q3, so to achieve that with both cars is good," he said after qualifying was set and done.
"I’m not disappointed, it was a good effort and we’ve recovered well throughout the weekend. I’m content with eighth and there’s plenty to play for there. We have to focus on the race now. We’ll see what happens and get along with our business. The race is the toughest of the year, but I enjoy the challenge.”
