Ocon: 'I expected that one day people would understand that'

The Hungarian Grand Prix had a surprising winner. Due to damage to Max Verstappen, a tactical error by Mercedes and a crash at the beginning of the race, Esteban Ocon managed to grab the victory, with which the driver is happy.

The Frenchman is having an excellent year and reinforced this in Hungary. Ocon kept Sebastian Vettel behind him for almost the entire race, showing his qualities. "In 2021 we will be Formula 1 winners and I have a three-year contract with a team I have been working with since 2010. I couldn't be happier. At the moment I am the happiest person," he told RTL Deutschland.

The Alpine driver experienced some low points in recent years, but managed to fight his way back up. "I expected that one day people would understand that I want to win races at all costs. That time has come. People trusted me and here I am. We won the Hungary GP."

Ocon can be found in tenth place in the world championship due to his victory. The Frenchman is eleven points behind Daniel Ricciardo who is in ninth position.
