Norris on DRS discussion: 'Red Bull doesn't even need DRS'

This season, the FIA has already shortened several DRS zones and many drivers are not happy about that. Lando Norris, too, is not in favour of shortening the overtaking zones. The Briton himself would use DRS as much as possible and says Red Bull Racing does not even need DRS.

The FIA has opted to make the DRS zones shorter for both Baku and Miami. By doing so, the motorsport organisation wants to prevent drivers from overtaking each other just by passing each other on the straight, which creates little action. However, drivers are actually complaining that overtaking is too difficult with such short DRS zones.

At the press conference on Thursday, Norris elaborated on the DRS discussion. "We're the slowest on the straights, so I would love DRS at every chance we have," joked the Briton. "It just needs to be re-reviewed and not to use data from last year, but just have to look at what's been happening this year and then review it."

According to Norris, there is no point in looking at last year's data because every year the cars get more downforce, which the Briton says makes racing worse. "In my opinion, probably extend. But it depends who you're racing. Red Bull doesn't even need DRS. And for us, we need everything we got in a way," Norris explained, explaining that it is a tricky issue.
