Lando Norris despite having the car that has outright won five out of the race Grand Prix so far, dismisses favourite label ahead of Monaco and believes tht the new pitstop rules will play a role in defining a winner.
The FIA decided to introduce one-off pitstop rules for the Monaco Grand Prix after an uneventful race last year that saw drivers change rubber during an early red flag stoppage and go on until the end of the race on the same tyres, whilst lapping several seconds off the pace.
Although neither McLaren driver took the win in the principality last year, with Charles Leclerc pipping all other drivers in what Red Bull advisor called 'a farce of a race', both Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris were indeed quite strong finishing P2 and P4 respectively at the line.

Norris thinks new Monaco pitstop rules will prompt surprise winner

Earlier Leclerc commented on these new pit stop regulations in Monaco. Just like the Ferrari driver, Norris thinks they will add extra excitement. The Brit discussed during media day in Imola, where GPBlog was present, whether McLaren is the favorite in Monte Carlo. He said: “I absolutely don't think that's the case in Monaco because it will be a two-stopper. I think this will most likely result in a very surprising winner.”
