Newey remains at Red Bull

Adrian Newey is stay at Red Bull despite the team appointing a new technical director.

It has been reported by France’s L’Equipe that Frenchman Pierre Wache has been appointed Red Bull’s technical boss.

But according to new reports Newey, who has been involved in F1 for a long period of time, is to stay as chief technology officer.

Wache said: “Adrian always focused more on aerodynamics while I try to put the power to the road.

“I understand what this post means and the risks. It doesn’t frighten me, but I understand that results are expected and I want to show that I can give them.

Newey, 59, said: “Mercedes is superior in every way in this engine formula. Power, consumption, driver ability and energy recovery.

“You cant make up for that with a better car.
