Former F1 driver and now Aston Martin Team Ambassador Pedro de la Rosa has said that Adrian Newey has already had a "tremendous influence" on the team. The 66-year-old caused a major stir in the
Formula 1 world when he announced his departure from Red Bull Racing after the Miami Grand Prix,
to then go on and join Aston Martin to design their 2026 car. Newey, who has officially been with Aston Martin since March 2025, has contributed to cars that won twelve constructors' titles between 1991 and 2024 during his impressive career, leading his respective drivers to 223 victories.
Now, the master designer will be looking to bring Aston Martin to the front of the grid with the 2026 car, hoping to make the most of the regulation changes.

'Everyone wants to work with Adrian'
"Adrian has a tremendous influence, not only because he is the most talented aerodynamicist ever in Formula 1, but also because his presence motivates others in the team", De la Rosa told the Czech F1sport.auto. "Everyone wants to work with Adrian and understand his methods."
The Spaniard is not the only one to speak highly of Newey, with Fernando Alonso
mentioning that there's a noticeable difference within the team since Newey's arrival.
Although there might not be much work from Newey into Aston Martin's 2025 car that is currently going through some struggles, there are huge changes away from the track that De la Rosa has picked up on.
"Simply by being with us, he changes the team from the inside out – something that's not quantifiable in figures," the 54-year-old continued, heaping the praise onto Newey.
"It's not only about the knowledge that Adrian brings, but also the emotional and inspiring aspect. Adrian is a big name joining the team, but he is not the only one. Moreover, we should not underestimate the huge talent we already have in the team", concluded De la Rosa.
