Rookie Isack Hadjar has impressed Peter Bayer with his rapid improvement in 2025, rebounding from an early-season mishap to become a consistent points scorer. Bayer shared a telling radio moment between Hadjar and race engineer Pierre Hamelin during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend.
“His race engineer [Pierre Hamelin] said: ‘Look, Isack, you’re losing about half a tenth in Turn 6,'" Bayer started in conversation with PlanetF1.
“Isack said to him: ‘Can you be more precise?’ Pierre said, ‘Yes, I can. You’re losing 0.035 of a second in that turn.’
"And Isaac said: ‘OK, then I know what to do.’ [And he did it].”
It’s a sign of the young Frenchman’s confident approach that has helped him integrate quickly into
F1.

'Everybody agrees Hadjar should stay'
His rookie year began under pressure after crashing on the formation lap in Australia, but since then he’s demonstrated composure and adaptability.
“Honestly, I think we’ll see great things from him," Bayer said.
“His mind is just working, asking, growing. Isaac is a great kid. He’s great, but he needs this year with us, and everybody agrees that’s what we should do.”
