Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has insisted the Silver Arrows will not be getting involved in the business of Liberty Media and Formula 1 by discussing the future of the German Grand Prix.
The Silver Arrows were the title sponsor to this season's German Grand Prix - contributing a whopping $4.5 million to the race sanctioning fee, but the deal with Mercedes is set to be stopped next season.
This now leaves the German GP at a serious risk of being dropped from the Formula 1 calendar.
"Last year's deal came up pretty spontaneously," Wolff said to SpeedCafe. "We had a meeting on Sunday morning with Chase (Carey) and Sean (Bratches), and they said would you be able to help us bridging the gap?
"And in half an hour, we bartered out a deal in order to make the German GP happen. But this is not something which we are in a position to continue. Also, because I believe that we shouldn't really be interfering in the business of Liberty (Media) and F1 - it is up to them to decide which tracks are on or off."
