Laurent Mekies took his place on the Red Bull pit wall for the first time as CEO and team principal following the dismissal of Christian Horner, but how long is his contract? The Frenchman has revealed a few more details about his agreement with his new team.
The arrival of Laurent Mekies at the helm of the team formerly led by Christian Horner hasn’t had a significant impact on sporting results just yet, but it does seem to have brought a breath of fresh air and a calmer atmosphere within the team.
The Frenchman took his place on the pit wall for the first time yesterday as the new CEO and team principal, witnessing the usual magic from Max Verstappen and, unfortunately, yet another disappointing result for Yuki Tsunoda, who was once again eliminated early.
Mekies also took part in his first press conference as a representative of his new team, and unsurprisingly, most of the questions were directed at him.

Mekies opens up about his contract with Red Bull

One of the questions referred to the length of his agreement with Red Bull, to which Mekies replied: ''Not sure how much I can share. Seriously, I don’t think anyone doubts what Red Bull F1 is here to do in terms of objectives.''
''I don’t think anyone doubts what the objectives of the team are short term, mid‑term, long term: it’s to fight for wins and to fight for championships. That’s what it is.''
''In terms of mission statements, that’s of course the objective for the time being, For the short term and the mid‑term, is it different to what it was yesterday? No. Does anyone have a contract that guarantees him to stay forever? No. I don’t either. But I think it’s pretty normal in Formula 1.''
Mekies was also asked several questions about Christian Horner, revealing a few more behind-the-scenes details about his dismissal.
