Verstappen reveals hopes in Abu Dhabi: 'At least we can fight in top six'

Max Verstappen has reflected on a mediocre Friday at the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi. So commonly this season, the Dutchman has had a difficult Friday, with his Red Bull team managing to turn things around for the remainder of the weekend. Seventeenth place in FP2 isn't a good sight for Red Bull, of course. Verstappen was, of course, not happy with the RB20.
"It's not a very good balance, to be honest. There's no connected balance in the mid-corner, and that makes it difficult to push. That's something that we have to work on overnight," the four-time world champion revealed to Sky Sports.
Therefore, what's the logical aim for Red Bull this weekend? The Milton Keynes-based team are rooted in third place in the constructors, but will still be hoping to end the season on a high. "I'm sure that we can do better. I'm not saying that we'll be at McLaren level because they seem very quick so far this weekend. But at least if we can fight in that top six, I think that will be a good recovery because, so far, it's been quite tricky." The Dutchman concluded.
Verstappen did miss FP1 as Frenchman Isack Hadjar took his place. The Red Bull-backed driver is challenging for the F2 title this weekend and is fighting for a seat at VCARB in 2025. Tomorrow's FP3 is the last opportunity for Red Bull to make any major changes to the RB20 before qualifying starts later in the afternoon.
