The second free practice for the Mexican Grand Prix did not get off to an ideal start for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman reported hearing strange noises from his engine, with which he also had a problem in the first free practice. He also complained about his brakes.

Verstappen in trouble in FP2 Mexico

The second free practice session in Mexico City had barely started when Verstappen's voice was heard on the radio: "I still hear a weird noise... in the engine." His race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, responded that Verstappen could continue driving as far as the team was concerned.
However, that did not prove long-lasting. Not much later, Verstappen announced that the noise was not normal and that he was also experiencing a problem with his brakes. "This noise is very disturbing. This can't be normal," the Dutchman said, with a subsequent radio message shortly afterwards: "What the hell? The brakes didn't work at all!" After this, Red Bull told him to pit.
During the first free practice session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Verstappen already reported a problem with his engine. He had also sustained damage to his floor because he had driven over a tool in the pit lane. Between the sessions, Red Bull stated that there were no problems with Verstappen's engine.
