Max Verstappen was unable to contain his joy at taking his first pole position in F1 with a superb lap to beat the Mercedes duo of Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton to the best grid slot possible for Sunday's race.
Despite taking seven F1 wins in his career so far, amazingly the Dutchman had never taken a pole position, missing out by small margins on many occasions.
But he finally got the job done in Hungary, and after the session he spoke to Sky Sports F1: "It’s incredible! This was still missing, the car felt good all weekend and it was incredible!
I'm very happy about today, there’s still a race to do and that’s the most important. Today was also important - a very nice one and great for the team."
