Max Verstappen: "Alex Albon has a similar driving style to me"

Max Verstappen believes that his Red Bull teammate Alex Albon is a very similar driver to himself and that this helps the team as they are able to have the same set up in both cars. This is good for Red Bull and could play a part in their choice for their 2020 driver line up.

“We drive the car in a similar way," Verstappen said to the media in Russia. "The driving style of drivers is quite unique, but I think we are looking for the same things. That is important for the team."

The Red Bull driver line up is still undecided for next season but the fact that Albon and Verstappen drive in a similar way should favour the British-Thai driver in terms of selection. If the team have two drivers with a similar style then they can share data and set up and it will be really beneficial for the team.

This means that Pierre Gasly's chances of returning to the senior team are looking unlikely and even if he suddenly speeds up the team would prefer to have two drivers with the same style.

Red Bull could specialize in one design philosophy that focuses on one driving style which would undoubtedly be better than splitting their attention between two cars.
