Max Verstappen about action with Vettel: "I had to try"

Max Verstappen had a quiet race in China, which unfortunately was the case for many drivers. The Dutchman got away well and managed to beat Charles Leclerc to grab 4th after running a good strategy. However, there was nothing more for the Red Bull driver.

"I had a little too much wheel spin at the start, but I got away well for the rest. Of course, you look out for each other before we start, so that was fine. In the end, we try another undercut on the Ferraris, which allowed me to attack Vettel. That was still interesting and I had to try, but in the end, we did not have the speed," said Verstappen to Ziggo Sport.

"P4 was, therefore, the maximum today. The medium tyre felt a little better today, but the Ferraris and Mercedes drivers were too fast. I was lucky that Leclerc could no longer catch up with me at the end. That gap was too big," the Dutchman concludes.
