Max Verstappen recently welcomed his daughter Lily into the world, something people wondered - or hoped - would slow him down. His recent pole in Miami, however, tells a different story.
During the FIA post-qualifying press conference, Verstappen was asked about how he was taken on his newly found father role at the moment, being so far away in Miami.
"It's been good to be able to spend a few days at home before coming here, you know, when she's just born. You want to make sure everything is okay."

'Lily didn't slow me down, clearly'

"Clearly, it didn't make me slower as well being a dad, so that's a positive. We can throw that out of the window as well for people mentioning it. And yeah, when I was here honestly, yeah, [everything] just quite fluent."
"I anyway, am in contact a lot with my girlfriend anyway, throughout the day." So,you know, getting pictures and, FaceTime a bit here and there. It's always there, but now one more member in the family."
Did Max ever doubt, though, that his daughter could change the kind of driver he is? The Dutchman answers: "Yeah, I don't really listen to these kind of silly things, you know, just do my thing."
"I think there are enough racing drivers in the past that have been world champions even after having kids. Honestly, I don't even know where that comes from."
