Marko worried: "Thank goodness Max's first lap was good enough."

Helmut Marko is happy to have Max Verstappen on pole position after a nervy end to qualifying earlier today. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz trailed extremely closely behind the current World Champion and finished only 0.05 seconds down, something which the Austrian was worried about.

"Thank goodness Max's first lap was good enough," Marko told Formel1.de, "in the second one he had a bit of a problem in the first right-hand bend, so we thought it was already over. But thank goodness the Ferrari couldn't improve."

On the Dutchman's final lap, a piece of Verstappen's car was seen flying off, but Marko explained how this won't be a problem, stating: "These are the usual little things when you drive too hard on the kerbs, but that won't be anything decisive for the race."
