Lewis Hamilton has a lucrative contract with Mercedes. Logical, when you look at his resume and although the details are not known, the British driver has become the richest athlete in the United Kingdom. He has achieved the highest position of merit in the 'Sunday Times Rich List', which looks at the state of wealth in 2019.

GBP 224 million

According to the newspaper, by the end of 2019 Lewis Hamilton was the richest sports star in the country and the richest sports star in British history. At the end of last year the driver had a fortune of no less than 224 million pounds. In 2019 he would have seen his fortune grow by 37 million pounds.
With those earnings he passed the 200 million pound mark and thus passed David Beckham, who was the richest athlete in the UK since 2013. Whether Hamilton will see his assets grow so exponentially again this year is doubtful, as the pandemic will also be felt by him.
Other big earners in the UK are Rory McIlroy (golfer), who saw his fortune grow by £32 million to £170 million, and Gareth Bale (soccer player), who currently has a fortune of around £114 million.
