As he prepares for only his third Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc believes he is finding his feet in the fast-paced world of Formula One and is excited by the challenge of a new circuit – the Frenchman has never driven on the Shanghai International Circuit before.
Team-mate Marcus Ericsson scored Sauber’s first points of the 2018 season in Bahrain to put the team into eighth place in the Constructors’ Championship, and this has encouraged Leclerc.
“I look forward to our next race in China,” he said. “It was a good race for the team in Bahrain last weekend, with Marcus scoring two points.
“Now that we have started seeing our potential we are all motivated and eager to continue on this positive path.”
The 2017 F2 champion seems to have taken well to life in single seat racing’s elite class, and the prospect of a new track has increased his will for success: “I have never driven on the circuit at Shanghai before, so it will be an interesting experience that will allow me to continue gaining more experience as a driver.
“This will be the third Formula 1 Grand Prix for me, and I am feeling more confident in the car.”
