As the race weekend in Hungary was about to start, Ferrari announced that Frederic Vasseur has extended his contract. The team principal signed a new agreement that is valid for several years. According to Charles Leclerc, it is very important that there is stability within the Scuderia. Leclerc said:
“I'm not the one making the decisions, but I think stability is always very important. Fred is the person we look up to and the person leading the team. To have him for many more years is definitely a good thing, also because in Formula 1 it takes time to build something, especially a successful team.”Leclerc pleased with Vasseur's stay at Ferrari
The Monégasque also continued by saying he is pleased with Vasseur staying as team principal of Ferrari: “I'm very happy about that. Knowing that I'll be able to have Fred alongside me for more years makes me optimistic for the future.”
This is how Ferrari stands in the F1 championships
Currently, the Scuderia can be found in second place in the constructors' championships, far behind
McLaren, but also ahead of Mercedes and
Red Bull Racing.
In the standings among the drivers, the Ferrari drivers rank lower. Leclerc and teammate
Lewis Hamilton are in fifth and sixth place, behind both McLaren drivers,
Max Verstappen and
George Russell.
