Charles Leclerc was so close to victory at the British Grand Prix, but Lewis Hamilton overtook him just before the end of the race. A week and a half later, the Ferrari driver is still suffering from the moment.
With Leclerc, the Italian team seemed to deliver a world class performance by taking the lead and holding it. Yet the Mercedes of Hamilton turned out to be faster. "It is painful to be so close to victory and still lose. Fortunately there were also plenty of positive things for the team", Leclerc told Formel1.de during his press conference.
Leclerc stressed that the season is going extremely well for Ferrari for the time being. "It's definitely not an easy phase for the team, but we need to bounce back. With Carlos as a teammate, it works very well. We are helping each other out. We want to shift our focus to next year to be as strong as possible then. We just have to remember the results of this year."

Leclerc in world championship

The driver is currently in sixth place in the championship, 14 points behind Sergio Pérez. Sainz is one place lower with a 12 points gap to his teammate.
