Marcus Ericsson experienced Charles Leclerc from very close quarters in the past and therefore knows the Monegasque well. According to the former Formula 1 driver, Leclerc is capable of going for the world title like no other, whereby he already seems to have the respect of Ferrari.
Prior to the season, it was clear that Ferrari could easily compete for the lead in the world championship. At the same time, the question was which driver would emerge from the Italian stable. With Leclerc and Carlos Sainz the team has two drivers of considerable level.

Ferrari gives Leclerc the confidence

After five Grands Prix, however, it is clear that Leclerc is better in the season, so it seems logical that Ferrari will shift the focus more to him in the coming months. Ericsson sees that Sainz is increasingly at peace with the situation, he tells in the F1 Nation Podcast.
"He’s trying to be ahead of Charles," Ericsson states. "But, like we’ve seen in the past, it’s always good for a team going for a championship to have a clear leader that goes for it, like Max [Verstappen] and Lewis [Hamilton] have been the last few years. So I think the support will go in Charles’ corner going forward."
