Home hero Charles Leclerc's dramatic weekend in Monaco will not be soon forgotten by both the driver and the Formula 1 viewing public. The Monegasque ended a tense qualifying session with a crash, but managed to keep his pole position. However, he saw his pole position go up in smoke on Sunday, when it turned out that the drive shaft of his Ferrari could not be repaired in time.
In a new message on his personal Twitter account, the driver looks back on the weekend, which ended with him witnessing his teammate Carlos Sainz pick up the silver trophy.
"Sunday still hurts", the Monegasque begins, "but there’s a lot we can be happy about. After a tough 2020, to be back at the front of the grid and scoring a podium with Carlos is a great reward for everyones hard work.”

Accident in Monaco

Leclerc has yet to experience a successful race at Monaco in Formula 1. Also in 2019, the driver drove his Ferrari into the wall and recorded a DNF due to sustained damage. Despite this, Leclerc is not giving up hope: "Monaco I love you and hopefully one day you will love me back. We'll keep pushing."
