Charles Leclerc caused the first red flag of qualifying a couple of minutes into Q3. The Monegasque driver will start from P10 as a result. The incident took place in Turn 3, after the Ferrari driver lost control over his car and crashed into the barrier on his first flying lap in Q3.
Up until that moment, the Monegasque driver - just like his teammate - had enjoyed a very strong qualifying session, with Ferrari still firmly in the fight for pole position despite struggling more than Mercedes and McLaren throughout the free practice sessions. The Monegasque will therefore be forced to start no higher than tenth on the grid, pending confirmation of who secures pole position and how the top five rows ultimately take shape.
Currently, Oscar Piastri leads the session, as so far, only the Australian driver and Max Verstappen were able to set lap times before the red flag was waved in Barcelona. Watch the incident below!
