Charles Leclerc added to his strong run of form at Sauber as he clawed his way back following a first lap mistake. He dipped down into 19th but ended up bringing two points back to his garage.
"Yeah, it was a great race for us. We were not on the best strategy but to be honest, everyone was on the same strategy as us or worse, apart from Marcus on softs," Leclerc said in an interview on motorsport week.
"So more or less we had to pit when the VSC came out. It was very difficult to finish the race with the softs after that."
Leclerc wasn't the only driver to experience issues with the tyres. Carlos Sainz described his Renault as "undriveable" and current world champion Lewis Hamilton claimed Pirelli should have reduced the tread on this track.
“We came back to P9 from last after two laps so it’s a great performance from the whole team," added Leclerc.

The man from Monaco has been strongly linked with replacing Kimi Raikkonen at Ferrari next season. Ferrari are already in charge of Leclerc's future but did his drive through to 9th give him extra brownie points? Or does he still need another year to learn the ropes before moving to a bigger team?
