Charles Leclerc has officially made his Olympic 'debut' as torchbearer after starting the celebrations in Monaco on Tuesday 18 June. The Monegasque was the first of many athletes to take to the streets of Monaco with the Olympic torch relay.

Leclerc becomes an Olympic torchbearer

It was announced on Monday by Radio Monaco that Leclerc would be given the honour in return for winning his first home race in Monaco in May. Leclerc becomes the second Formula One driver to become a torchbearer, after Lewis Hamilton became the first during the London 2012 Olympic games. This year's Olympics start on 26 July in France. This is the second time in the history the torch has come to Monaco.
The Ferrari driver shared a picture on the Paris 2024's BeReal account of himself with the torch.
