Niki Lauda believes that
Lewis Hamilton would have won the British Grand Prix if it wasn't for his first-lap crash.
Hamilton was span out by Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen on Sunday and there has been speculation that Raikkonen may have done this on purpose to try and jeopardize Hamilton's chances.
Just a week before Silverstone, Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari hit Valtteri Bottas in the opening lap of the French Grand Prix and this has demonstrated the feud ongoing between the two fierce rivals.
Hamilton did manage to salvage a good result considering the unfortunate circumstances, by finishing second behind Vettel.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff was furious at the incident and with raw emotions after the race, accused Ferrari of "dirty tactics".
The comments were immediately shut down in an aggressive style by Ferrari.
Lauda thinks Hamilton would have won at Silverstone if it wasn't for the Raikkonen collision.
"Lewis did an incredible job, no question about it. Everything was going right," Lauda told SkySports.
"The accident was unfair basically because it's the second time a Ferrari hits us in the first corner, and it's not funny but that's the way it is.
"First of all, it was wrong when they have Vettel five seconds.
"At least now they gave Kimi ten seconds. The stewards realised what's going on here.
"That's the way it is. It should not have been, but for me, Lewis' job, being last, coming all the way to second, shows what performance he had here.
"Without the crash, he would have won the race."
