Jos Verstappen denies involvement in leaking alleged WhatsApp messages

The case surrounding Christian Horner, who was cleared of any misconduct by Red Bull, seemed to be coming to an end. This was until screenshots of alleged conversations between (possibly) Horner and the Red Bull colleague in question were sent to key paddock members and the media from an anonymous e-mail address.

After a long period full of speculation, an official announcement about the allegations towards Christian Horner finally arrived. The parent company, Red Bull GmbH, announced that the Red Bull Racing team boss had been found not guilty of inappropriate behaviour. A day later, however, a link was sent from an anonymous e-mail address to a long list of journalists and key players within F1. On it were screenshots of possible conversations. It cannot yet be confirmed whether these screenshots are genuine.

A new twist in this story has now emerged. There is some speculation on social media that Max Verstappen's father, Jos Verstappen, leaked the alleged WhatsApp conversations. Speaking to De Limburger, Jos completely denies these accusations. "The biggest nonsense! Why on earth would I do that? I only want one thing and that is for my son to be in a good place and can act in a calm environment. But instead, things are now on fire. This doesn't help anyone, does it? Especially not Max," said the 52-year-old driver firmly.
