F1 film producer Bruckheimer dismisses rumours of reshoots

The new film 'F1' was presented at Silverstone. The first piece of highly anticipated footage was shown prior to the British Grand Prix. Last winter, there were many rumours that some footage from the film would have to be reshot due to industry strikes. Famous Hollywood producer Jerry Bruckheimer denies this was the case in conversation with Deadline.

"The strike was unfortunate for the industry, but it benefited us in a way," Bruckheimer begins. "We only had like four days of work with the actors, and that was at Silverstone. What we did is, we had a huge second unit set up and a second unit director, but since he couldn’t work, Joe (Joseph Kosinski) did it."

Bruckheimer goes on to say that it was nice that Kosinski could also do the directing for the second unit of the film. Normally, a second unit requires re-shooting, but because Kosinski was able to take on the duties, this was not the case.

Bruckheimer therefore confirmed this, despite earlier rumours that re-shoots would be needed: "We never re-shot anything, nothing whatsoever. It’s a misnomer, a rumour that got spread. No, once the strike happened, we just focused on the cars and focused on the driving [with the stunt drivers, not the actors]. We made a smaller unit, cut down our staff and everything to save money. And then we just carried on to all the different tracks. We basically finished all the second unit stuff." Concluded Bruckheimer.
