Isola: "Mugello is a clean slate when it comes to strategy for the teams"

After the Grand Prix at Monza, Formula 1 will travel this week to Mugello which is just a few hours away. This third Grand Prix in the third triple header of 2020 is new for many drivers as Formula 1 will be racing there for the first time. This makes it a bit difficult to predict what will happen to the tires. At least Pirelli will bring the three hardest compounds.

A brand new environment for F1

"It’s a spectacular and very fast circuit that will definitely place big demands on tyres, which is why we have selected the hardest compounds," Mario Isola said in the tire supplier's preview. "As with any new venue, Mugello represents a bit of an unknown for most of the drivers and an entirely clean sheet of paper when it comes to strategy."
He continues: "Free practice will be particularly crucial to collect as much data as possible, and we’re likely to see teams splitting their programmes to gain as much information as they can about every tyre under all circumstances."
"From our point of view, we’ve been able to prepare also by analysing data from our other championships that have raced at Mugello", concludes Isola. Pirelli will bring C1 as a white hard tire, C2 as a yellow medium and C3 as a red soft tire for the upcoming Grand Prix.
