Franco Colapinto should fear every Grand Prix as if it was his last, as reported online. Alpine addressed this rumour in a response to GPblog.
In a season that has been disappointing for Franco Colapinto, the British Grand Prix was another low point. The Argentine was already required to start from the pit lane due to a crash in qualifying, but eventually due to a technical issue, he never participated in the Silverstone race.
Colapinto under pressure?
After six Grand Prix weekends, Colapinto stands with zero points in the world championship, fueling rumours that he is heading towards the exit door. Valtteri Bottas and his employer Mercedesrecently confirmed talks about the Finn moving to Alpine, as a replacement for Colapinto.
PlanetF1 reports that Colapinto is now working on a race-to-race contract. However, this message is emphatically denied when GPblog inquired about it. Alpine confirms that the line-up currently consists of Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto. Should there be any change, the public will be informed - that is the message.
