Red Bull boss Christian Horner insists “thousands of jobs” will be put at risk if Liberty Media introduce their proposed budget cap in 2021. When the first look 2021 regulations were revealed, a $150 million budget cap was highlighted.
Horner suggested top teams will have to cut jobs and demonstrated how it won’t look good for the sport.
“I think they’re gathering feedback at the moment and the more things that they look at the more questions it raises,” said Horner in an interview with Race fans.
“Of course there has to be an extremely responsible approach from the governing body and the commercial rights holder because, certainly in the UK, you are talking about potentially thousands of jobs.
“If a local car plant or Tesco is shut it makes headline news at the moment. So I think there is a social responsibility that needs to be taken into account when you are talking about restrictions and caps and so on.”

Liberty media may just have to find a way of limiting job losses before they can introduce the budget cap.
