Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner says Sergio Perez's positive coron test is a 'stark reminder' for Formula 1. The sport still runs a lot of risks when travelling around the world.

Stark reminder

Last Thursday Racing Point driver Perez gave a positive test result. The Mexican feels physically fine, but will not compete in the UK Grand Prix this weekend. He will be replaced by Nico Hülkenberg.
According to Horner, Formula 1 still needs to be vigilant and aware of the risks of COVID-19. "It's a stark reminder", Horner said at Friday's FIA press conference. "Sometimes in Formula 1, we feel we're a bit isolated and we all live in our own bubbles anyway."
"But I think that when it happens to somebody like Perez, a driver who is affected like that, it's a stark reminder that these procedures are here for a reason", continues Horner.

Continuing to show discipline

"The procedures we take as a team and collectively as Formula 1, we do everything that we can to ensure that as little unnecessary contact is made either at the race event, away from the race event, or within the factory", says the Brit.
Horner says it's difficult, but calls the positive test a reminder that the coronavirus is still among people. The races in countries where the virus is still heavily present are those where Horner says the most discipline should be shown throughout the entire Formula 1 circus.
