Horner expresses expectation: 'Two exceptional drivers'

Christian Horner is enjoying competing with Ferrari this season. According to the Red Bull Racing team boss, the fight between the two drivers still stays neatly within the lines, making it a nice fight to be in. In doing so, he expects the battle to last until the end of the season, he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"It's fun to race against Ferrari," judges the Briton. "It's an iconic, historic team. The competition has been respectful so far. They have a fast car, a good engine and two very good drivers. I expect a long battle throughout the season."

Where expectations around Carlos Sainz were high prior to the season, the Spaniard has struggled a lot to keep up with the level. Charles Leclerc on the other hand, especially during qualifying, often manages to outperform Max Verstappen.

Horner is therefore impressed by Leclerc's level and expects him to be able to make things difficult for Verstappen just like that. "They are two exceptional drivers. They have always reached the top in the classes they have raced in, since they were children. It's great for Formula 1 to have them opposite each other."
