Horner expects dominance to end: 'And then we screw it all up'

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner does not see anything wrong with Lewis Hamilton's suggestion that a new rule be implemented that prohibits teams from working on next season's car before a certain date, he revealed at the team bosses' press conference in Austria.

"How do you prevent people from thinking about or working on next year's cars," Horner wonders aloud. Speaking to Sky Sports, seven-time world champion Hamilton revealed that he thinks it is unfair that Red Bull can already work on the car for 2024. "I think we have a handicap system in Formula One through the reduction of wind tunnel time," Horner stated.

The Red Bull man cites Aston Martin as an example. "I think that [they] will start to feel that as a reset at the midpoint of the year. For us, we have to pick and choose very sparingly what we're going to commit to putting through the wind tunnel." He thinks changing the rules will not do the sport any good and continuity could actually help create a more level playing field. "By the time we get to the end of 2025, probably all the teams will be very converged. And then we screw it all up and go again in 2026," he concluded.
