The discussions between Red Bull Racing and Mercedes about the legality of front and rear wings has reached a new point. Indeed, Christian Horner has acknowledged to Sky Sports that Mercedes' rear wing and its possible flexibility will be thoroughly investigated after qualifying.
"They have launched a fact-finding mission here that after qualifying they are going to test these wings. Its one part of a piece in the puzzle," the Red Bull team boss explained. The rear wings will be tested by placing weights on the rear wing and these will get heavier and heavier and so they will test the possible flexibility.
"We are not going to disclose a full protest document. Its just to give you an example of why there is an exponential straight-line speed. The FIA has all that and they can check all these things". Over the past few weeks Red Bull have been preparing that protest and they have now managed to get the FIA to carry out additional investigations.
