Hockenheim wants to continue hosting German Grand Prix but suggests the next deal with F1 will have to change under claims it “cannot continue” in its current form.
Under the current contract, much like Silverstone, the circuit is losing money. But with a revenue sharing contract being pushed, it’s hoped the race will continue.
Marketing director Jorn Teske told Autosport: “We’re aiming to host a GP in the future and we’d like to have it in the future, but the key point is we cannot prolong under the current conditions.
“So we would like to have a contract which will take the risk from us, this is the basic point.
“We have a circuit which does not receive any financial support from anybody. We had some losses in the past.

“We had a 10-year contract, and we fulfilled this contract, even though we have some better and some worse years.”
For a while, the location of the German Grand Prix alternated between the Hockenheimring and the Nurburgring.
The race was cancelled in 2015 but was held at Hockenheim in 2014 and 2016. In 2017, it was dropped from the F1 calendar once again.
There's plenty of doubt surrounding the running of this event.
