On Thursday, Ferrari announced the renewal of team principal Frederic Vasseur's contract. Lewis Hamilton told GPBlog and others his feelings on this during the Hungarian Grand Prix media day.
After being asked his opinion on Ferrari keeping Vasseur, Hamilton said, "I only heard yesterday about it, and you've heard my positive comments about Fred. I told everyone."

He then clarified, "There's nothing else to add. I told you before that it was the right choice. Fred signed me here. I've been wanting to work with him."
Rumours began to swirl during the Imola Grand Prix weekend that the Ferrari camp was dissatisfied with Vasseur due to the lack of results. During that weekend, both Charles Leclerc and Hamilton threw their support towards Vasseur.

The seven-time world champion was then asked if he thought his old team principal, Toto Wolff, and Vasseur were similar in the way they work.
He laughed, saying, "No, completely different."
Hamilton added, "But in terms of the race, the characters, they're both massive racers, so that's what they have in common."
Later, Hamilton was asked if he felt Vassuer was moving in the direction that was needed in terms of extracting the most out of Ferrari.

"All I can say, just from my previous experience, I remember the real positive when I was working with Toto is just how he was able to utilise individuals, figure out how people work best, how to get the most out of someone."
He continued, "For example, with me, he created freedom for me to be able to express myself the way I wanted to and that enabled me to be the best version of myself. And that's what he would do there."
About Vassuer, he answered, "Fred's very similar in that respect. And so I'm still learning, trying to learn the way that Fred likes to work. But I have absolute confidence in Fred, as I've always said.""
